I officially love summer especially because of the amazing seasonal produce! Summer is a great time to add variety and delicious fruits and vegetables to your meals. Experiment a little by adding in some fruits and vegetables to your family recipes to make them more healthy! I recently saw a dare on pinterest to watch all of the Harry Potter movies in one day which sounded like a waste of time but many were up for the challenge. Here is my healthy dare..... I dare you to be be creative and add in some fruits & veggies! Here are some fruit and veggie add-in to help get your creative juices working...............take a look.
1) Fruit for Dessert-create delicious smoothie combinations of fruit, yogurt and juice! Or eat fresh or frozen fruit treats.
2) Expand your Casserole-mix in the veggies…try peas, broccoli, corn, green beans, asparagus, and pinto beans ect.
3) Italian Veggies-add extra veggies into your pasta dishes…chop spinach, peppers, onions, tomatos and add them to the sauce.
4) Salad Mix ups-shred carrots, throw in some spinach, oranges, peas, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers...... the possibilities are endless!
5) Veggie Omelet-make your omelets colorful and flavorful with veggies such as mushrooms, spinach onions, peppers.
6) Stir Fry-try something new by stir-frying your veggies like broccoli, carrots, snap peas, green onions, bell peppers.... for an easy meal.
7) Kabobs-try fruits or veggies. Grill them outside for great taste and easy cleanup!
8) Baked Goods –add in apples, bananas, blueberries, zucchini, carrots or pears to muffin and cookie recipes.
